Main Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to offer a wide and varied range of administrative and secretarial skills to the Director, sworn, and civilian members assigned to the Quartermaster Division, ensuring work is completed in an accurate and expeditious manner. All tasks are executed in an unsupervised fashion and necessitates a keen understanding of department policies and procedures.
POSITION DUTIES
This position reports, endorsem*nts, requests, agency forms, memorandums, special orders, etc., and composes routine and complex correspondence for the director, sworn and civilian employees assigned to the Quartermaster Division.
Reviews and screens requisitions for accuracy and completeness prior to entering the data into FMIS Computer System.
Acts as receptionist: Greets and directs office visitor's to appropriate individuals. Screens calls and visitors. Provides information or interprets office policy when appropriate; handles most complaints or refers to supervisor if necessary.
Create job tickets using the Financial Management Information System (FMIS). This includes forms, sexual assault kits and DNA kits requested by outside law enforcement agencies.
Implements and maintains filing system, cross reference systems, files and retrieves various records pertinent to the office.
Deposit checks for retirement badges, secondary badges, purchased firearms, and other approved items.
Approve all invoices for services received at the Quartermaster Division and forward to Accounts Payable for processing.
Other duties as assigned by Management/Command personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Prior experienceworking with F.M.I.S. (Financial Management Information System)
2. Experience working atthe Federal, State, County or Local levels of government.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
In accordance with Section 2-204(b)(6) of the PublicSafety Article, Candidates for position in this classification will be subjectto an initial drug screening and a complete criminal background investigation before permanent appointment can be made. Acriminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications willbe considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that youprovide complete and accurate information on your application. Successfulcandidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED,BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for atleast one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by thehiring manager to select employees. The list will be valid for one year.

The examination will consist of a rating of youreducation, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating maybe based on your application. BENEFITS
Contractualemployeeswho work for an agency covered under the State Employeesand Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a currentemployment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hoursper month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage forthemselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will beresponsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescriptioncoverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State ofMaryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. Youcan also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismembermentinsurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premiumfor these benefits.
