Slow Cooker Applesauce Granola
This is a recipe fromFake Gingerthat is cooked in the oven. I adjusted it a little to what I had on hand and cooked it in the slow cooker.
Many homemade granola recipes use a lot of oil or butter in order to obtain the crispiness and clusters to form a good granola. However, this applesauce granola uses, you guessed it, unsweetened applesauce and just a little bit of oil to get the same results.
Making this a healthy granola that you really can customize to your liking.
I opted to use pecans and sunflower seed kernels to add extra crunch and flavor along with some brown sugar and cinnamon.
But like I said, you can really customize this recipe to your liking by using other nuts and seeds (walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, etc.). You can also change up the seasoning with other spices (nutmeg, cloves, pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice, etc.)
You can even add in your favorite dried fruit for some yummy chew (raisins, apples, apricots, cranberries, etc.).
Experiment with the recipe and make it totally unique and yours!
