Inner Harbor July 4th Activities

This year’s Inner Harbor July 4th festivities will kick off around 3 p.m. and the stellar 13-minute fireworks display will go off around 9:30 p.m.

The event kicks off at3 p.m. with food, fun activities, and a DJ at the Red, White, and Blue Picnic at West Shore Park.Then, entertainers will perform from4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater. Between concerts, there will be a DJ, street performers, and activities from various attractions along the entire promenade.

At8 p.m., the BSO will host aStar-Spangled Celebration concert under the baton of newly appointed Music Director Jonathan Heyward in Rash Field Park.Last year’s performance was a rousing success and we can’t wait to hear this year’s program.

The full orchestra performance will culminate around9:15 p.m.with a dazzling 15-minute fireworks display produced by fireworks company Pyrotecnico. The best views are along the Inner Harbor promenade and surrounding areas, including Canton, Federal Hill, Fell’s Point, Harbor East, and Locust Point.

Getting to the Inner Harbor

Baltimore’s scenic Inner Harbor is easily accessible via bus, metro, Light Rail or the free Charm City Circulator.

The Yellow and Brown CityLink lines take you to the Baltimore Convention Center, just a short walk from the Inner Harbor. You can also get to the BCC using the Charm City Circulator’s Orange Line.

You can also get close to the water via downtown bus routes 54, 65, 76, 71, 78 and more. See this map for more details.

Appropriate Light Rail stops include Camden Station, Stadium (Federal Hill) and the Convention Center.

If taking the Metro, get off at Charles Center and walk two blocks to the Baltimore Arena Light Rail station or enjoy a longer walk to the Inner Harbor.

You can also take the Water Taxi during the day from Federal Hill, Locust Point or Fort McHenry. Check the Water Taxi and MTA websites on July 4th for updated schedules.

Traffic will likely be restricted on July 4th, but if you are able to get downtown there are several lots along the Inner Harbor in which you can park:

  • 204 E. Lombard St.
  • 121 Light St.
  • 150 S. Calvert St.
  • 151 South St.

Cherry Hill Arts & Music Festival

This annual July 4th tradition celebrates Baltimore’s rich musical and artistic culture, especially the plethora of African American creatives moving the city forward. Bringing people together from all over the city, the festival also celebrates unity, freedom and shared history.

The takes place at the scenic Middle Branch Park, which offers views of the Baltimore City skyline and Fourth of July fireworks.

This year’s performers include hip hop artist Monie Love and reggae star Mykal Rose. The festival also features arts & crafts, a children’s village, historical reenactments and more.

In addition to the celebrations taking place in the Inner Harbor and Middle Branch Park, there are several more fun July 4th activities happening in Baltimore.

For families and others who would like to get the celebration started earlier in the day, AVAM is holding their annual Pet Parade and Animal Talent Show. Pets of all kinds are encouraged to enter. Pet registrationbegins at 8:30 a.m.and the pet parade begins at 9 a.m.

Additionally, theMaryland Science Centerwill be open from10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4 — as well as every other Tuesday this summer.

The annual 4th of July Baltimore Beach Volleyball Tournament kicks off its 24th year at the Baltimore Beach in Rash Field. Check-in starts at 11 a.m., and play begins at noon. Players will break for lunch around 2 p.m., then knockout rounds/finals will start at 6 p.m. The tournament will wrap up at 8 p.m. just as the BSO takes the stage. To participate, register here.

At night, head to the Baltimore Museum of Industry for a front-row seat to Baltimore’s fireworks display. One ticket includes parking for a vehicle and all passengers, live music from the John Lamkin Favorites Jazz Quintet and museum admission. BYO food/drinks.

Have a drink on the rooftop of the Four Seasons, spend the day sunbathing on Federal Hill or enjoy a bird’s-eye view from the World Trade Center’s Observation Level all while taking in stunning scenes of the Chesapeake Bay.
