Tracking the Terps’ incoming and outgoing transfers
Maryland football’s roster will look wildly different in a few days. The Terps have built the bulk of their roster through recruiting and developing high school players but have found talent in the transfer portal. Taulia Tagovailoa, Ja’Quan Sheppard and Donnell Brown all started with different schools.
On the other hand, Maryland’s also lost talent to the portal — defensive end Chop Robinson left for Penn State a few years ago, and tight end CJ Dippre left for Alabama after last season.
“Anytime players make decisions to leave the program, they all do it for their own selfish reasons or their own intentional reasons. And we wish them well as we’ve done to anybody else that’s started here in our program and made the decision to leave,” Locksley said Sunday.
Players who enter the portal are likely, but not guaranteed, to leave Maryland for another school.

Incoming
Josh Kaltenberger, R-Jr., IOL
Kaltenberger, a former three-star recruit, appeared in 14 games last year for Purdue and started the last three at center. He could compete to be Maryland’s starting center — Aric Harris and Mike Purcell split time there in 2023.
MJ Morris, So., QB
The Terps grabbed a seat in college football’s game of quarterback musical chairs by landing Morris. The former three-star recruit has three years of eligibility remaining. He made four starts for NC State, completing 55.7 percent of his passes for just under 180 yards per game. Morris had seven touchdowns and five picks as the Wolfpack went 3-1.

Jalen Huskey, Jr., CB
Huskey, who announced his commitment on Instagram, played for Bowling Green last year and tied for the team lead with four interceptions. Opposing QBs had a 44.6 passer rating when they threw to a target Huskey covered, per Pro Football Focus. That was the second-best mark among Mid-American Conference corners with at least 200 coverage snaps.
Outgoing
Ramon Brown, So., RB
Brown, a former four-star recruit in Maryland’s 2022 class, was buried on the depth chart behind Roman Hemby, Antwain Littleton II and Colby McDonald. As a freshman, he totaled 122 rushing yards and added 41 receiving yards. Injuries limited him to just one game this season.
Riyad Wilmot, R-Jr., LB

Wilmot played 12 games for the Terps, recording 12 tackles and a sack.
Corey Coley, Jr., CB
Coley started two games this year and has been a rotational corner since 2021. His loss, along with the expected departures of Tarheeb Still and Ja’Quan Sheppard, has thinned Maryland’s cornerback depth.
Jaishawn Barham, So., LB
Barham’s departure is a devastating blow for the Terps, who flipped the Baltimore native from South Carolina two years ago. The tight-lipped linebacker was the top recruit in Maryland’s 2022 class as a four-star. He started as a freshman and was named honorable mention All-Big Ten in his first two seasons.

Corey Dyches, R-Jr., TE
Dyches emerged as one of Tagovailoa’s favorite receiving threats over the last couple of years. The converted wide receiver ranked fourth and third among Big Ten tight ends in receiving yards in 2022 and 2023, respectively, per Pro Football Focus.
Rico Walker, Fr., TE
Walker, the top recruit in Maryland’s class of 2024 and a consensus four-star recruit, was a late flip from UNC. He was behind Dyches and No. 2 tight end Preston Howard on the 2023 Maryland depth chart and caught just four passes in his first season.
His and Dyches’ departures open larger roles for Howard and freshman tight end Dylan Wade.

Gavin Gibson, So., CB
Gibson lost a preseason battle for the starting nickel back spot to Glen Miller and played sparingly during in 2023.
Tamarcus Cooley, Fr., DB
A three-star recruit, per 247Sports, Cooley did not record a defensive snap after Week 3, per Pro Football Focus.
Ja’Kavion Nonar, Fr., OT
Nonar, a three-star recruit, did not register an offensive snap after Week 1. The Terps’ offensive line could look dramatically different next season — right tackle Gottlieb Ayedze has no eligibility left, and left tackle DJ Glaze has not announced if he’ll return.
