LOCATION OF POSITION
Positions are located throughout the State ofMaryland.
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of the MSP Emergency Dispatcher Trainee is to facilitate officer safety by monitoring police radio transmissions and utilizing all communications equipment towards that end at the entry level performance.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties include but arenot limited to:
Monitorand communicate with MSP and other public safety personnel via two-waymulti-channel radios and maintain required documentation of same.
UtilizeMETERS/NCIC/NLETS to obtain, update, disseminate and accurately transmitinformation within the Department and to other law enforcement and criminaljustice agencies.
Utilizetelephones in a professional manner to provide necessary guidance andinformation to Departmental personnel and the general public.
Fileand maintain METERS/NLETS messages, and various required logs associated withthe communications center operations.
Interactwith Department personnel, allied agencies and the general public.
Performs other related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants who possess thefollowing. Include clear and specificinformation on your application regarding your qualification(s).
One year of dispatching experience in a 911(police/emergency) services environment utilizing a CAD (computer aideddispatch) system.
Oneyear of experience in a multi-faceted work environment using data entrykeyboard functions and a multi-line telephone system.
Acombination of one year of emergency dispatch training, education and/orexperience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
In accordance withSection 2-204(b)(6) of the Public Safety Article, candidates for position inthis classification will be subject to an initial drug screening and a completecriminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination beforepermanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds forrejection of the candidate.
Employees in thisclassification will be required to provide the employing barrack with a telephonenumber where they can be reached.
Employees in thisclassification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Codeof Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
